The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) and the Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran Group) have formalized a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) designed to facilitate joint tourism promotion and marketing ventures between the picturesque Omani governorate of Musandam and the captivating northern emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
The MoU sets the stage for a cohesive platform enabling both entities to collaborate on initiatives aimed at attracting a greater influx of international visitors while positioning Ras Al Khaimah and Musandam as premier global tourism destinations within the Middle East.
In a joint statement, the duo emphasized that the agreement would enable them to create seamless opportunities for travelers to explore both destinations, Ras Al Khaimah and Musandam, within a single enriching journey.
The strategic alliance between the two destinations is particularly fitting, given their close geographical proximity, with a mere 90-minute drive between them, and a shared natural landscape featuring the magnificent Hajar mountains.
Additionally, their intertwined cultural heritage and historical connections serve to reinforce and enrich this unique collaboration, the statement noted.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at the esteemed World Travel Market, a prominent global exhibition on travel and tourism, in London, with RAKTDA Chief Executive Officer Raki Phillips and Omran Group CEO Dr. Hashil Obaid Al Mahrouqi signing the agreement.
The framework outlined in the agreement focuses on enhancing collaboration and dialogue on marketing initiatives to promote cross-destination tourism. Key areas of collaboration include facilitating smoother transportation access between Musandam and Ras Al Khaimah, streamlining visa arrangements for international travelers, and developing engaging tourism packages, adventure activities, and partnership opportunities.
Expressing enthusiasm for this pioneering partnership, RAKTDA CEO Raki Phillips highlighted the significant synergy between Ras Al Khaimah and the neighboring Musandam Governorate. He emphasized the shared objective of showcasing the distinct tourism offerings of each destination and elevating awareness among global travelers regarding the diverse array of tourism attractions in the Middle East.
Similarly, Omran Group CEO Dr. Hashil Obaid Al Mahrouqi emphasized the pivotal role of tourism authorities in championing natural assets and cultural heritage. He expressed the collective aspiration to craft distinctive and innovative experiences for global travelers, thereby enhancing the appeal of the region.
