Uzbekistan and Pakistan

Pakistan and Kazakhstan decided to broaden their commercial relations and look into the possibility of enhancing their investment collaboration.

On the eve of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Summit, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met and discussed their bilateral relations.

The bilateral relations, particularly commerce, connectivity, and energy, were discussed by the two leaders. To hasten the development of the agreed-upon topics, they decided to increase technical-level engagement.

The prime minister recalled his encounter with the president of Kazakhstan outside the SCO Summit in Samarkand in September 2022, which served as the catalyst for reviving extensive contact.

He emphasized the importance of encouraging cooperative partnerships in the fields of energy, agriculture, technology, logistics, and communication.

The importance of direct air connectivity for fostering commercial relationships, interpersonal interactions, and tourism was also underlined by Prime Minister Shehbaz. He emphasized that Kazakhstani investors were welcome in Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

Additionally, he invited Kazakhstan to increase trade by using the ports of Gwadar and Karachi.
