According to Sindh Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon, a Chinese company has committed to creating Pakistan’s first intra-city bus manufacturing facility in Karachi, enabling the country to purchase buses at lower prices.
Today, Sharjeel Memon met with the bus company’s country manager, and it was decided that an 18-acre site would be used for a manufacturing plant that would open in 20 months and produce 500 buses annually.
Our first objective is to establish a manufacturing facility for public transportation, so we wanted to start the project as soon as possible, Memon stated.
Later, Sharjeel Memon said via his Twitter account that he had a thorough discussion with a renowned Chinese bus manufacturer and that they had decided to establish Pakistan’s first intra-city bus manufacturing facility in Karachi.
He predicted that this will lead to more employment possibilities, foreign investment, and cheaper bus fares in Pakistan.
