Khalid Al Rumaihi, esteemed for his distinguished career in Bahrain’s corporate landscape, has taken up the mantle of Chairman at Aluminium Bahrain (Alba). Mumtalakat, Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, is delighted to announce this strategic appointment, marking a significant transition for Alba, a prominent local portfolio company under the umbrella of Mumtalakat.
With a wealth of experience and a proven track record, Khalid Al Rumaihi brings a remarkable blend of expertise to his new role. His journey to the chairmanship of Alba has been paved with notable achievements in various leadership positions across the region.
Al Rumaihi’s career trajectory is studded with illustrious roles, including his tenure as the Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat) from September 2019 to April 2023. During his time as CEO, he played a pivotal role in steering Mumtalakat through a transformative period, implementing a robust new strategy that elevated the company’s stature.
Before his stewardship at Mumtalakat, Al Rumaihi served as the Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), where he orchestrated efforts to attract foreign investments into the country. His dedication to the economic development of Bahrain has been a cornerstone of his career.
A seasoned professional with extensive financial expertise, Al Rumaihi’s career includes over a decade at Investcorp, where he held the position of Managing Director. During his tenure, he was also a member of the Management Committee and Head of the Institutional Placement Team, overseeing Investcorp’s clients in the Arabian Gulf.
Prior to Investcorp, Al Rumaihi spent nine years at J.P. Morgan, where he led the private client group in the Gulf region, further enriching his financial acumen.
In addition to his role at Alba, Al Rumaihi currently serves as the Executive Chairman of Amriya Group, a testament to his continued commitment to the region’s corporate landscape.
Khalid Al Rumaihi’s formidable credentials extend beyond his corporate roles. He chairs the Board of Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah) and serves on the Boards of several other prominent companies, including the McLaren Group, Bahrain Economic Development Board, Bapco Energies. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of Harvard Business School Middle East and North Africa.
With a Masters degree in Public Policy, specializing in Economic Development from Harvard University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, Al Rumaihi is well-equipped to steer Alba towards a future of continued success.
His leadership journey has also seen him chair the Board of the Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) and the Board of Bahrain Development Bank. He has held board positions at Gulf Air and Securities Investment Company, underlining his deep-rooted commitment to the region’s economic growth and development.
