The Pakistani government has issued a cybersecurity advisory urging information technology (IT) and financial institutions, including regulatory bodies, to refrain from using artificial intelligence (AI) and information and communication technology (ICT) products originating from India. This cautionary note comes amid growing concerns that such products may pose significant threats to Pakistan’s critical information systems.

The cybersecurity advisory, which has been shared with federal and provincial ministries as well as regulators, highlights the widespread use of AI and ICT solutions from India across the globe, particularly within the financial sector. These solutions are known to aid businesses in their growth and development.

The advisory serves as a precautionary measure aimed at safeguarding Pakistan’s cybersecurity landscape and protecting critical information assets from potential threats associated with the use of AI and ICT products from India.

While acknowledging the benefits of technological collaboration and international partnerships, the government underscores the paramount importance of prioritizing cybersecurity and ensuring the resilience of Pakistan’s information infrastructure.

This advisory highlights the evolving landscape of cybersecurity threats and the need for vigilance in the deployment of technology solutions. It reinforces the government’s commitment to preserving the security and integrity of its critical information systems.
