NKK Investments, a pioneering company in the fields of AgriTech, Green Hydrogen, and Sustainability, has unveiled a strategic partnership with UrbanKisaan, a renowned Agri-tech startup headquartered in the United States with a research center in India. This collaboration is poised to usher in a new era of hydroponic farming practices in Oman, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
Within the framework of this joint venture, NKK Investments is embarking on a mission to introduce UrbanKisaan’s cutting-edge hydroponic and vertical farming technology to Oman. The primary focus of this endeavor is to democratize and make UrbanKisaan’s innovative farming techniques more affordable and accessible to Omani farmers. By harnessing the power of hydroponics and vertical farming, this partnership aims to empower local agriculturalists to produce higher yields while utilizing significantly fewer resources, thereby enabling them to make wise investments in the future of farming.
One pivotal aspect of this collaboration is the intention to extend UrbanKisaan’s groundbreaking technology beyond Oman’s borders, benefitting farmers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. This technology, known for its environmental sustainability and efficient resource utilization, enables crops to thrive with minimal water and land requirements compared to conventional farming methods. The result is a reduced carbon footprint and the production of highly nutritious crops that contribute to a healthier population.
Chirayu Khimji, Director of NKK Investments and KR Group, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water, and other relevant authorities for providing robust support for this joint venture. Khimji highlighted how the partnership with UrbanKisaan aligns perfectly with their commitment to advancing sustainable practices in agriculture within the Sultanate of Oman.
Khimji emphasized the potential to serve customers with technology that enables them to achieve more with fewer resources. He also noted that this collaboration could help Oman realize its food security targets in line with His Majesty Sultan Haitham’s Oman Vision 2040. Khimji expressed confidence in the technology’s proliferation within Oman, enabling Oman’s citizens to access pesticide and GMO-free fruits and vegetables at the most competitive prices to date.
Vihari Kanukollu, CEO and Co-founder of UrbanKisaan, underscored the significance of their partnership with NKK Investments in advancing their mission to make advanced farming technology accessible globally. Together, they aim to create a more sustainable and productive agricultural landscape.
