Hankook Tire, a global leader in tire manufacturing, has partnered with its official dealer in Saudi Arabia, Bin Shihon Group, to unveil its cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) performance tires, the “iON evo” and “iON evo SUV,” in the Saudi market for the first time. These innovative tires are designed to meet the unique performance requirements of electric vehicles and enhance their driving experience.

The Hankook iON evo SUV is available in three sizes, ranging from 20 to 21 inches, while the iON evo is available in two sizes, ranging from 18 to 20 inches. Electric vehicles, known for their instant torque that surpasses many sports cars with internal combustion engines, demand tires that can deliver exceptional performance. Hankook Tire’s “iON Innovative Technology” equips these high-performance EV-exclusive tires, enabling outstanding grip maintenance, handling, and braking performance. Additionally, they offer a balanced performance with low noise levels, improved fuel efficiency, and extended mileage.

Hankook Tire conducted comprehensive evaluation tests on EVs equipped with the iON evo tires, which yielded remarkable results in terms of driving stability, fuel efficiency, mileage, and noise reduction when compared to regular tires. To address the unique characteristics of EVs, such as high instant torque and battery weight, Hankook has employed its distinctive “EV Grip Boost Technology,” enhancing cornering stiffness by up to 10%. Furthermore, the application of the Aramid Hybrid Reinforcement Belt enhances steering performance and ensures optimal shape retention during high-speed driving.

The iON Evo tires also contribute to improved fuel efficiency, with a reduction in rolling resistance by up to 6%. They feature an EV-specialized compound called “ProDurable Compound,” consisting of high-concentration silica and eco-friendly materials. This compound, combined with even tread wear optimized for high-ground pressure distribution, results in reduced wear and fewer replacements, leading to extended tire mileage of up to 15%.

Mr. Marwan bin Shihoon, Vice Chairman of Bin Shihon Group, Hankook Tire’s dealer in Saudi Arabia, commented on the launch of iON evo tires in the Saudi market, stating, “The introduction of iON evo tires aligns with the Kingdom’s growing interest in transitioning to electric vehicles, as evidenced by the development of new cities in line with Vision 2030. Anticipating increased demand for such tires, Hankook has taken proactive measures to offer these products to Saudi customers. These tires hold a prominent position in the high-performance EV tire sector, having received positive acclaim from reputable international automotive magazines and earning several global design awards.”

Indeed, the iON evo tires have garnered recognition for their performance and design excellence. In a test conducted by Auto Bild magazine, a leading European automotive publication, the tires received an excellent rating in four categories: wet braking, dry braking, rolling resistance, and wet handling. Moreover, they secured prestigious design accolades at the Red Dot Design Award 2023 and the iF Design Award, two of the world’s top design competitions.

The introduction of Hankook Tire’s iON evo and iON evo SUV tires to the Saudi market reflects the company’s commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions that cater to the evolving needs of electric vehicle owners, further promoting sustainable and efficient mobility.
