Syngenta Pakistan Limited is the country’s major agricultural inputs company, offering Crop Protection and Seeds throughout the country. It has named Tabbish Mahmood as its new ‘Head of Digital Services & Business Development,’ effective March 21, 2022.

Since January 2022, Zeeshan Baig has been the “Country General Manager,” driving the digital agenda in addition to running Syngenta’s existing business in Pakistan.

Tabbish will be in charge of the company’s digital roadmap, which will entail bringing digital and technology breakthroughs, digital ecosystem engagements, and public-private collaborations, as well as exploring new commercial prospects. He would be responsible for developing and strengthening Syngenta Pakistan’s Digital Operating System (OS).

“Syngenta Pakistan is one of the largest agriculture inputs providers in Pakistan for Crop Protection and Seeds, and has aggressive plans for digitalization,” said Zeeshan Baig, Country General Manager. Tabbish offers significant leadership and Agri-tech skills to the organization, with over 14 years of broad technical and commercial experience. As a result, he’ll play a key role in advancing our digital agenda, which will help farmers grow more efficiently and sustainably, enhance their lives, and contribute to food security.”

Tabbish formerly served as the CEO of Pakistan’s largest Agri-Tech company, “BaKhabar Kissan,” where he and his team created a truly innovative, data-driven platform aimed at empowering and altering the lives of millions of farmers who had previously been deceived or uneducated. His tiny team at BaKhabar Kissan blossomed into a resourceful pack of 100+ AgriTech specialists, fostered with a wealth of worldwide experience in agriculture, data, and technology, throughout his tenure there.

Through proactive written, audio, and visual advice, BaKhabar Kissan’s comprehensive technology enables “remote farm-management.” Tabbish assisted in the establishment of the Weather, Crop, Livestock, and Remote Sensing operations centers, as well as the world’s largest omni-channel-based platform, which allows any and all stakeholders in the Agri value chain to engage and trade.

Tabbish had previously worked for Huawei Middle East, HP APAC, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), and Telenor Pakistan on various large-scale ICT projects. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Telecom Engineering and an MBA in International Management (Finance) from Royal Holloway, University of London.

“Pakistan’s massive agriculture market is ripe for disruption,” Tabbish Mahmood stated. I feel that now is the time to implement cutting-edge digital technologies in order to transform the agricultural ecosystem. I am confident that a business like Syngenta, with its enormous reach across the country and its Naya Savera program, can actually alter millions of farmers’ lives and revolutionize Pakistan’s agriculture environment. “I am committed to Syngenta’s vision because it aligns with my personal goals of working for the prosperity of my people and country.”
