The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate and promote the local information technology sector, startups, and freelancers.
The ceremony was presided over by Minister for Information Technology and Higher Education Punjab Raja Yassir Humayun Sarfraz, and the MoU was signed by Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor and MD PSEB Osman Nasir. Sajid Latif, PITB’s DG e-Governance, Sulman Hasan, Director PSEB, and other key officials were also in attendance.
PSEB and PITB will collaborate on promoting the local information technology sector, entrepreneurship, and incubation centre development activities, according to the MoU. Additionally, the two groups will work on soft skills, language, and technology training for ICT enterprises throughout the province.
Raja Yassir Humayun Sarfraz, Punjab’s Minister for Information Technology and Higher Education, noted at the event that such alliances result in profitable prospects and more ICT initiatives. “By bolstering the freelance industry through ICT initiatives, we can pave the way toward economic stability and national prosperity,” he added.
“PITB will collaborate with PSEB to market and support freelancing talent and start-ups in Punjab through PITB’s initiatives, as well as by initiating new projects. Additionally, we will seek to strengthen the capacity of local entrepreneurs through business and sales training activities,” PITB Chairman Azfar Manzoor stated.
Recognizing PITB’s contribution to the development of the IT and freelance industries in Pakistan, PSEB MD Osman Nasir stated that PSEB will market and assist freelancing talent and start-ups in Punjab.
The two organisations intend to collaborate on knowledge transfer in the felid of information technology. They would also aim to strengthen ties between academics and industry, allowing academia and industry to better understand one another’s requirements.
