Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has entered into key agreements with Huawei Technologies Pakistan to upgrade its IP Edge and Optical Transport Network (OTN). The contract was signed by Nadeem Khan, Acting CEO & Group Chief Financial Officer, PTCL & Ufone, and Mark Meng, CEO, Huawei Technologies Pakistan, at a ceremony held at PTCL’s headquarters in Islamabad. Along with senior management from both firms, the ceremony was attended by Jafar Khalid, GCTIO (Development), PTCL & Ufone, and Ahmed Bilal Masud, Deputy CEO, Huawei Technologies Pakistan.
To keep pace with traffic growth, this transformation will involve the replacement of existing intercity and long-haul networks with a state-of-the-art OTN network. When combined with the existing Optical Transport Network backbone, PTCL’s long-haul capacity will increase to Multiple Terabits per second, enabling the company to provide improved services throughout the country.
