Govt to launch ‘Brand Pakistan’ to promote tourism sector

In order to improve Pakistan’s tourism industry, Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Growth, has stated that the country will launch “Brand Pakistan” as a customised brand and will receive dozens of five-star international standard hotels and motels over the next two to three years.

Bukhari, who is also the Chairman of the National Tourism Coordination Board (NTCB), stated that tourism is a priority for the current government, and that Pakistan will receive 25 to 30 hotels in the coming years.

He also mentioned that an e-portal had been created to notify tourists about hotel ratings, weather, traffic, and other details about the country’s tourist destinations. He also stated that a National Tourism Strategy from 2020 to 2030 has been devised, as well as a five-year action plan (2020-25).

He mentioned that the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has been restructured and now functions as a coordination body.

Improvements in infrastructure, such as better hotels, transportation, and leisure facilities, as well as an improved security situation, he said, are necessary to boost the tourism industry.
