Taxes on Import of Used Computers and Laptops Increased

Reading Time: 1 min read

The customs value of old and used computers has recently been increased by the Directorate General of Customs Valuation Karachi. This includes system adapters, peripherals, and any other accessories that may be included with the computer.

Minimum customs values for all used computers have been set solely for the purpose of calculating duties and taxes. However, the computer industry’s market will suffer as a result of this. As a result, the computer industry was firm in its opposition to this valuation ruling, claiming that it would harm the company and make it more difficult for students to pursue education at home.

Working people’s lives are further complicated by the fact that most companies have implemented a work-from-home policy in these unprecedented times.

Furthermore, because importers rely on these used devices to make money and run their businesses, this has a negative effect on their business. According to the Directorate General’s ruling number 1519 from the year 2021, all items and commodities involving value fluctuations in exporting countries had to be observed.
