On Friday, Governor Reza Baqir of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said that overseas Pakistanis have so far deposited more than $480 million in Roshan Digital Accounts.
As for information, the SBP governor said that in 97 countries, more than 86,000 Pakistanis from overseas opened their Roshan Digital Accounts.
In line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s instructions, NBP launched the Roshan Digital Accounts initiative to encourage Pakistani expats.
Earlier, on December 24, Prime Minister Imran Khan went to Twitter to thank overseas Pakistanis for sending over $200 million via the Roshan Digital Account.
I’d like to thank our great asset, Pakistani Overseas. Via #RoshanDigitalAccounts created by SBP, MashaAllah funds sent by them yesterday crossed $200 mn. The rate is accelerating: the first $100 mn came in 76 days, and the next $100 mn came in just 28 days,” he wrote on his official Twitter account.
