Islamabad, Pakistan – The Ministry of Privatisation has announced the receipt of Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from eight entities following the close of the expression of interest (EoI) submission period at 4pm on Friday.

The entities that have submitted SOQs are:

  • Fly Jinnah
  • Air Blue Limited
  • Arif Habib Corporation Limited
  • Sardar Ashraf D. Baluch – SHANXI CIG Co Ltd (China)
  • Gerry’s International (Private) Limited
  • Consortium led by Y.B. Holdings (Private) Limited
  • Consortium led by Pak Ethanol
  • Consortium led by Blue World City

The Privatisation Commission will now undertake a pre-qualification process in accordance with the criteria set out in the Request for Statement of Qualifications and Specifications (RSOQS), as per the Privatisation Commission Ordinance 2000 and its associated rules and regulations.

Pre-qualified parties will be invited to proceed to the next stage of the bidding process.

The initial deadline for EoI submissions was extended by two weeks, from May 3 to May 17, by the Federal Minister for Privatisation, Abdul Aleem Khan. This extension came amid unconfirmed reports of interest from both local and international companies in the privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

Minister Abdul Aleem Khan also noted that three local airlines were among the interested parties, expressing a desire to form consortia with international companies.

The privatisation of PIA is part of the government’s broader strategy to improve efficiency and reduce financial burdens on the state by involving private sector participation in key public enterprises.
