Saudi Coffee Co. has obtained the green light to commence operations in Jazan, marking a significant milestone as the Kingdom’s first production facility dedicated to coffee.

The approval was granted by Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Salem, President of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

The forthcoming factory, slated to occupy a sprawling 30,000 square meters, is poised to become a pivotal hub for the production and export of Saudi coffee. Aligned with the objectives of Vision 2030, the venture aims to fortify both local and global supply chains while fostering sustainability within the sector.

This development materialized as part of Jazan’s strategic endeavours, underscored by various investment agreements and capital contracts. Saudi Coffee Co. initially forged an investment pact with the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu in November 2022, setting the groundwork for the establishment of the warehouse.

Forecasts suggest that the new facility will catapult Saudi coffee output from its current 300 tonnes per year to a formidable 2,500 tonnes by 2032. Moreover, it is poised to cultivate a more sustainable and localized value chain, as outlined in an earlier statement released by the company.

During a recent event, Mansour bin Hilal Al-Mushaiti, Vice Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, lauded the remarkable evolution of Saudi coffee quality over the past decade, hailing it as “the world’s finest.”

Emphasizing its commitment to supporting local coffee products and elevating them to global standards, Saudi Coffee Co. assumes a pivotal role in advancing sustainable agriculture in the Jazan region, renowned as a bastion for superior Saudi coffee.

Additionally, as a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the company is instrumental in augmenting the Kingdom’s capacity to export premium-quality coffee beans to international markets.

Aligned with Vision 2030’s ambition to diversify the economy while prioritizing sustainability, PIF launched Saudi Coffee Co. with the aim of localizing coffee-related industries and enhancing their contribution to the Kingdom’s GDP through sustainable agricultural development initiatives in Jazan.

One of the company’s ambitious targets is to plant 10 million coffee trees in the Jazan region, further solidifying its stature as the epicentre of world-renowned Arabica coffee.
