Global consulting and construction engineering leader, Egis, has formally joined forces with Nera, Saudi Arabia’s Air Navigation Services (SANS), in a groundbreaking collaboration poised to reshape the aviation sector across the Kingdom.
Nera, established earlier this year by SANS, is positioned as a Saudi company with a mission to revolutionize aviation’s development, not only in the Middle East but on a global scale.
This strategic partnership is set to propel Nera into a leading technology company, offering innovative solutions and services in aviation and air navigation. Egis, an international engineering firm with a rich history, will contribute its specialized expertise in Air Traffic Management (ATM), airport development, design, operation, and maintenance both in the Middle East and globally.
The collaboration was solidified at the Dubai Airshow on November 13, with Egis bringing decades of experience in aviation engineering, airport operation, and integrated turnkey system solutions. Nera, through its alliance with SANS and an existing portfolio of ATM tools and services, adds specialized knowledge in project management, ATM, system operation, and maintenance.
Together, Egis and Nera aim to enhance value delivery to clients in consulting, engineering, project management, and operations across the aviation sector. As part of Saudi Arabia’s National Tourism Strategy, which targets 100 million visitors by 2030 and aims for the tourism sector to contribute over 10 percent to the GDP, a robust aviation sector becomes crucial.
“Collaborating and innovating are key to achieving safe growth and long-term environmental sustainability,” emphasized Thanos Deriziotis, Aviation Director, Middle East & South Asia at Egis.
With a significant presence in Saudi Arabia, Egis is actively contributing to the growth of the Saudi aviation industry. The company is currently involved in various airports across the country, including Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, AlUla, and Amaala. Notably, Egis has recently inked a three-year contract with Matarat to provide consulting services to 26 airports throughout Saudi Arabia.
