From August 1, Pakistan Post’s domestic mail rates have risen by 50% and 150%. A notice from the Ministry of Communication states that the prices for ordinary letters envelop, and aerograms that are not registered have increased from Rs20 to Rs30 for 20 grams to Rs38 to Rs60 for 50 grams, Rs50 to Rs75 for 100 grams to Rs75 to Rs120 for 250 grams to Rs100 to Rs150 for 500 grams to Rs200 to Rs300 per kilogram and Rs250 to Rs380 for 2 kilograms.
The prices for items other than textbooks, such as pamphlets, magazines, periodicals, sheets of music, maps, printed circulars, invitations, bills, and greeting cards, will rise from Rs2 to Rs5 per 100g.
Additionally, parcel rates have gone up as follows: The price of 1 kg increased from Rs100 to Rs150, that of 3 kg from Rs175 to Rs270, that of 5 kg from Rs250 to Rs380, that of 10 kg from Rs375 to Rs570, that of 15 kg from Rs500 to Rs750, that of 20 kg from Rs625 to Rs940, that of 25 kg from Rs750 to Rs1,130, and that of 30 kg from Rs875 to Rs1,320. Textbooks and other printed goods now have higher fees for deliveries and printing. Rates for urgent postal services have also gone up. The costs will increase from Rs59 to Rs90 for deliveries made inside cities or between Rawalpindi and Islamabad, including all taxes and fees. The price will be Rs110 for 500g and Rs45 more for each extra half kilogram.
For deliveries between other cities, up to 250g will be Rs230, and each additional half kilogram will cost Rs75. For cash-on-delivery in the town, charges will be Rs55 for up to 250g, Rs80 for up to 500g, and Rs18 for each additional half kilogram. For cash-on-delivery outside the city, the charges will be Rs87 for up to 250g, Rs122 for 500g, and Rs35 for every additional 500g booked.
