Najam Sethi, the former head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has been appointed Chairman of the PCB’s Management Committee with the permission of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The newly-formed management committee will govern the PCB until elections are held within the next four months, according to the specifics.

Shakil Sheikh (ex-PCB Board of Governors), Gul Zada (ex-PCB Board of Governors), Nauman Butt (ex-PCB Board of Governors), ex-Test cricketers Haroon Rashid, Shahid Khan Afridi, and Shafqat Rana, Sana Mir (ex-captain of the Pakistan women’s team), Aized Syed (ex-PCB director NHPC), Tanvir Ahmed (ex-president (CEO Service Industries).

The notification issued by the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination stated, “The federal government is pleased to constitute a management committee to manage the affairs of PCB with full executive powers to effect the restoration of departmental cricket structure and other allied matters, including the nomination of Board of Governors and election of chairman, within 120 days.”

In another announcement, the federal cabinet approved the revocation of the PCB Constitution 2019 and the reinstatement of the PCB Constitution 2014. Cabinet clearance was conducted via a circulation summary.


Notably, the Ministry of Inter-provincial Coordination (IPC) recently modified a summary to add two new PCB BoG members, Sethi and Shakil, in place of Ramiz Raja and Asad Ali Khan.
