The Chinese video-sharing network TikTok will soon open its operations in Pakistan, as discussions between the social media giant and the government have concluded.

According to Federal Information Technology Minister Syed Aminul Haque, the prominent social networking platform will open its operations in the federal capital Islamabad because it has faith in the government’s policies.

Haque stated that the government desired for social media businesses to establish offices in the country in order to better coordinate and control.

Influencers are enthusiastic with the trend, since thousands of TikTok content creators earn substantial incomes. The platform has been blocked nearly four times due to inappropriate content, despite its rising popularity around the world.

Due to the distribution of immoral content, TikTok erased millions of videos in order to avoid bans. With a registered company and office, the social media giant will be able to better coordinate with local authorities.

The platform was introduced in 2016 and quickly attracted 100 million active users. With one billion users from 154 countries, it has also been among the most downloaded software.
