Transworld Associates has joined a partnership that will manage and operate the SEA-ME-WE 6 underwater cable, the company stated today.

By Q1 2025, the SEA-ME-WE 6 cable will be up and ready for service, according to details.

The Southeast Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 6 (SEA-ME-WE 6) underwater cable system spans 19,200 kilometers and connects Pakistan to a number of nations between Singapore and France. SEA-ME-WE 6 will have one of the lowest latencies between Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Western Europe, with a transfer rate of more than 100 Tbps, or 40,000 high-definition videos per second.

Transworld Associates, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company, Bharti Airtel Ltd. (India), Dhiraagu (Maldives), Djibouti Telecom, Mobily (Saudi Arabia), Orange (France), Singtel (Singapore), Sri Lanka Telecom, Telecom Egypt, Telekom Malaysia, and Telin are among the members of the SEA-ME-WE 6 consortium (Indonesia).

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Kamran Malik, President of Transworld said:

“Transworld has joined the SEA-ME-WE 6 consortium to build the latest state-of-the-art high-capacity submarine cable system, in order to meet ever-increasing bandwidth demand and to play a pivotal role in the coming era of 5G.”

In comparison to earlier SEA-ME-WE cables, SEA-ME-WE 6 will feature more fiber pairs and more than twice the capacity.

Through trans-new Egypt’s geo-diversified crossings and landing places, SEA-ME-WE 6 adds a layer of diversity and resilience to the high-traffic-density route between Asia and Europe, improving each consortium partner’s total network.

The consortium’s service providers will be able to quickly scale capacity, safeguard traffic from failures, and lower the total cost of network ownership as a result of the increased flexibility.
