The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), the country’s major telecom and ICT services provider, saw a 7 percent increase in income thanks to a strong commercial approach.
“PTCL continued its strong performance throughout 2021,” President and Group Hatem Bamatraf told reporters here. The income of Rs 77 billion generated by PTCL in 2021 is 7% greater than in 2020, owing to the broadband, corporate, and wholesale business divisions.”
He said that the PTCL group earned Rs 138 billion in revenue in 2021, up 6.3 percent from the previous year. PTML (Ufone) grew revenue by 4.3 percent, he claimed, despite fierce competition in the industry. He stated that the U Bank had maintained its growth momentum, with revenue increasing by 8.4 percent. PTCL Group had a net profit of Rs 2.6 billion during the same period, according to the President.
He claimed that in 2021, PTCL had the highest fixed broadband sales and Net Adds since 2015, allowing the company to expand its broadband business. He said that in 2021, PTCL would be the fastest-growing Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) operator with the largest net additions in the FTTH market.
He claimed that the company’s operating profit was Rs 4.2 billion, up 21% from the previous year. The company’s existing infrastructure and network are constantly being upgraded, according to the president, and FTTH is being expanded across the country to provide seamless connectivity for a better customer experience.
He said that rapid FTTH rollout and good success in the corporate and wholesale categories were the cornerstones of PTCL’s top-line growth, which, along with a cost-cutting effort, enhanced the company’s profitability dramatically. In terms of the PTCL consumer business, he stated that the company’s fixed broadband business expanded by 11.7 percent in 2021, while the PTCL IPTV sector rose by 13%.
PTCL Flash Fiber, the company’s pioneering FTTH service, rose by 61.5 percent in the broadband industry, while PTCL CharJi /Wireless Broadband Segment expanded by 16.5 percent.
According to him, the business services category maintained its market leadership in IP Bandwidth, Cloud, Data Center, and other ICT services areas. He said that PTCL’s Enterprise division rose 10% year over year, while the Carrier and Wholesale businesses maintained their development momentum and achieved a 9 percent overall revenue increase.
Similarly, he stated that foreign business growth was around 4%. He stated that despite a hard operating climate, Ufone’s financial year 2021 concluded on a strong note, with revenues increasing by 4.3 percent over the previous year, mostly due to growth in data services.
In September 2021, Ufone purchased an additional 9 MHz 4G spectrum in the 1800 MHz Band in the NGMS spectrum auction, completing its promise to provide increased customer experience through excellent services across Pakistan, according to him.
According to the president, major network modernization activity was carried out in Q4 2021 following the spectrum auction, allowing Ufone to dramatically increase its share of 4G net additions in the sector. PTCL was granted seven USF optical fiber projects for far-flung parts of Punjab, KPK, and Sindh provinces this year, he said.
PTCL will install 4,690 kilometers of optical fiber as part of these projects. He stated that Ufone has been awarded five USF projects under the Broadband for Sustainable Development (BSD) banner for the un-served and under-served districts of Baluchistan in 2021, which include the deployment and network upgrade of 205 BTS sites.
