Prime Minister Imran Khan appealed to Pakistani firms on Saturday to raise employee compensation after the country’s leading corporations reported a record profit of Rs950 billion last year.
The prime minister thanked Serene Air for responding to his demand and announcing a 44% salary raise for its low-wage employees on his Twitter account.
“I appreciate Serene Air’s AVM Safdar(R) for responding to my call and announcing a pay raise of 44% for low-paid employees and 15% to 25% for others.” In a tweet, he said, “I urge Pakistan’s top 100 corporations, which made record profits of Rs950 billion last year, to also raise their employees’ salaries.”
The prime minister had previously thanked the president and CEO of a private television channel for responding to his appeal and hiking employee salaries in a tweet.
