The police report concerning Nestle Pakistan was withdrawn by the Lahore High Court (LHC) and ordered to launch a criminal trial against the food company as a one-month-old baby died after drinking formula milk.

Barrister and human rights activist Hassaan Niazi said the police report was falsified by the court and a trial against the company was initiated. Usman Bhatti, the infant’s father, accused the food company of selling tainted milk formula.

The First Information Report (FIR) claimed that, after eating a Nestle product, the complainant’s daughter fell ill and was taken immediately to the hospital, but she could not recover. The incident took place three years ago and it took another 18 months for a complaint against the company to be registered.

“Big news from the courts of Lahore. Court orders that police are reporting in support of Nestle are fraudulent. There will be a trial against Nestle. Big victory for Usman Bhatti, who allegedly died after eating Nestle Lactogen’s infant daughter, Hassan Tweeted.
