KIA’s Sorento launch in Pakistan has car enthusiasts buzzing with enthusiasm, who can not wait for the update to be available for purchase on the market soon in the Pakistani automotive industry. Although the variant that has been introduced and its features and specifications have been debated by car-centric groups online, the car has yet to be tested on the road by anyone other than experienced drivers who took Sorento as one of the four newly launched KIA cars earlier this year for a road trip up to Karakoram Highway throughout Pakistan.

On Sunday, 14 February, at its KIA Powerplay Testing Session, exclusive media were invited to test the seven-seater SUV first-hand. Two vehicle models were tested: the KIA Sorento 2.4L-AWD and the KIA Sorento 3.5L V6-FWD. On a dedicated 2 KM track, a one-of-a-kind on-ground test was conducted. The day allowed guests and a professional car racer to drive the car as well as take a ride in it.

Car racers; Shah Faisal and Osama took them on drives, individually testing the cars to their absolute limits, when the guests arrived. To ensure it was an enjoyable trip, the track was specifically built. The track also had hairpin turns, a cliff and an off-road patch, apart from a straight stretch, which together checked the traction, strength, and stability of Sorento.

There were guests seen enjoying the adventure. They soared along with the drivers with their seat belts on and their adrenaline on another high, delighted by the experience that allowed them to admire the robust performance of the car to handle extreme off-road and fast-speed road limits.

When they were dropped off by the passengers, they were given the car keys to take the beauty off for a ride. Each of them checked the vehicle individually, testing out each and every aspect, studying the car’s incredibly detailed interior and exterior. When they had spent a lot of time driving around, they dropped by the show area where their own styles checked the vehicle.

Omer Arshad from Bam Wheels, Mooroo, Pakwheels’s Suneel Munj, Shah Faisal and other publications such as Car Spirit and Brandsynario were among the guests. The media invitees were impressed with the Sorento results. After Sportage’s performance, they discussed among themselves how promising Sorento’s arrival had been, knowing all too well that Sorento had done very well globally. Their anticipation had paid off and they were pleased that their hopes had been met by the car. With its tiger-nose grill front and projector headlamps, Invitees shared the grandeur of the vehicle and how comfortable the exterior of the car looks. With its cruise control, rain sensors, and power & heated folding side-view mirrors, the majestic interior is also striking.

Reviewers were of the opinion, at a decent price, that Sorento would surely be a tough competition for Toyota’s Fortuner. While the third generation of the variant was introduced, it is not as good as the Sportage, which performed well in the local market. As a South Korean maker, KIA has become Pakistan’s fourth largest car-making firm by sales.

It is estimated that bookings for Sorento will begin by the end of this week.
