CCIR approves merger of NHA into NPHA

The merger of the National Housing Authority into the Naya Pakistan Housing Authority under the Cabinet Division has been approved by the Cabinet Committee on Institutional Reforms (CCIR), and a report has been submitted to the Cabinet for final approval.

The CCIR meeting was chaired by the Federal Minister for Education, Technical Training, National Heritage and Culture, Shafqat Mahmood.

Minister of Defence Pervaiz Khattak, Minister of Law Barrister Farogh Naseem, SAPM on Petroleum Nadeem Babar and Dr Ishrat Hussain, PM Advisor on Structural Reforms and Austerity, participated in the meeting.

The committee also debated and deliberated the changes in some market laws at the meeting in order to make the government’s work expeditious and unconstrained.

The President of the CCIR stated that the changes to the Rules of Business were intended to put an end to the red tapism and excessive delays in the government’s functioning.

The rules causing uncertainty in the disposal of government business are also being amended to bring clarification, added Shafqat Mahmood, the Chairman of the Committee.

After a painstaking debate, the committee recommended that the autonomous bodies and companies notify the Ministry of Law about the hired lawyer or the business to be represented in the courts, and that the Ministry of Law send the former its input within 10 days.
