Saudi Arabia & India forge energy partnership with new agreement

Saudi Arabia & India green energy partnership

Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman and India’s Minister of Power and New and Renewable Energy Raj Kumar Singh have solidified their commitment to an extensive collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This significant milestone occurred during the Middle East and North Africa Climate Week 2023, hosted by Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, in partnership with the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The MoU symbolizes a comprehensive partnership between the two nations, with a primary focus on three key areas: electrical interconnection, green/clean hydrogen, and supply chains.

In the domain of electrical interconnection, the agreement encompasses robust cooperation in conducting essential studies, facilitating electricity exchange during peak demand periods, and addressing emergencies. This collaboration seeks to enhance energy security and reliability for both nations.

Saudi Arabia and India are committed to co-developing projects related to green/clean hydrogen and renewable energy, capitalizing on their respective strengths and adhering to relevant laws and regulations. This joint effort signifies a significant stride towards harnessing environmentally friendly energy sources and advancing the global transition to clean energy.

Furthermore, the collaboration extends to the co-production of green/clean hydrogen, a promising avenue for sustainable energy production. This initiative underscores the shared vision of both nations to champion sustainable energy solutions.

Saudi Arabia and India have expressed their mutual dedication to actively participating in renewable energy projects. This commitment underscores their resolve to contribute to a sustainable and environmentally responsible energy landscape.

A central objective of this collaborative effort is to establish secure, reliable, and resilient supply chains for materials crucial to the green/clean hydrogen and renewable energy sectors. Both nations will work in tandem to ensure the efficient flow of these essential materials, contributing to the sustainability and success of their joint endeavors.

This strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and India represents a significant step towards international cooperation in the pursuit of sustainable and clean energy solutions, with the potential to drive positive global impacts in the fight against climate change.
