Huawei Pakistan CEO discusses collaboration with PM Kakar

Mr. Ethan Sun, the CEO of Huawei Pakistan, recently had a conversation with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, to explore ongoing and potential collaborations to nurture Pakistan’s ICT ecosystem and advance its digital economy.

During their discussion, Prime Minister Kakar expressed appreciation for Huawei’s pivotal role in fostering digital transformation in Pakistan. He emphasized that technological advancements and the expansion of ICT opportunities, particularly for youth and women, held the potential to usher in a brighter future for the country.

Mr. Ethan Sun underlined Huawei’s commitment to innovation, stating that innovation is at the core of Huawei’s vision and operations. He highlighted Huawei’s recent establishment of the Global Service Centre (GSC) in Pakistan, which employs more than 2,000 individuals. Additionally, Sun stressed Huawei’s global focus on youth, aiming to create an ecosystem that nurtures ICT talent, fosters innovation, and facilitates technology adoption.

Sun also expressed his belief in the exceptional skills of Pakistani engineers and the untapped potential within the country’s youth. He reiterated Huawei’s commitment to harnessing Pakistani talent and connecting it with the global technology landscape.

Dr. Umar Saif, Federal Minister of IT & Telecommunications, praised Huawei Pakistan’s continued investment and development efforts in the Pakistani market. He commended Huawei for its dedication to supporting the government’s initiatives to provide opportunities and platforms for young Pakistanis, ultimately contributing to the sustainable growth of Pakistan’s ICT industry.

During the conversation, Prime Minister Kakar and Huawei discussed the importance of empowering local partners and leveraging Huawei’s global expertise in 5G and cloud technology. They emphasized the significance of implementing advanced technologies to drive digital transformation across various sectors and industries in Pakistan. This transformation would be achieved with the support of local ICT talents, aligning with the government’s vision for a technologically empowered Pakistan.
