Qatar Chamber & Arab-Brazilian Chamber Meeting

Qatar Chamber and the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) convened for a significant meeting to explore avenues of collaboration and strengthen ties between the Qatari private sector and its Brazilian counterpart. The meeting, held recently, saw the presence of Ali Bu Sharbak al-Mansouri, Deputy General Manager of Qatar Chamber, and Tamer Mansour, Secretary-General, and CEO of ABCC. Also in attendance were Shaheen Ali Shaheen, ABCC Counsellor of GCC, Iraq, and Yemen, and Al Anoud al-Mohannadi, Director of the Membership Affairs Department at Qatar Chamber.

During the meeting, Al-Mansouri highlighted the robust relations between Qatar and Brazil across various levels, with a particular focus on the economic and commercial aspects. He acknowledged the presence of numerous high-quality Brazilian products in the Qatari market and emphasized Qatar Chamber’s role in supporting and representing the Qatari private sector. Al-Mansouri also shed light on the Chamber’s efforts in promoting the national economy, fostering an investment-friendly climate, and organizing seminars, conferences, and exhibitions.

Mansour, on his part, lauded the strong bilateral ties between Qatar and Brazil, especially in the realms of trade and economy. He expressed that Qatar stands as a distinguished and secure country, presenting an attractive investment destination. The ABCC Secretary-General noted that Qatar ranks as the third-largest trade partner of Brazil among the GCC states. Over the past few years, both countries have witnessed significant growth in their trade volume, notably in food and agricultural products, poultry, and meat.

Mansour also highlighted ABCC’s ‘Easy Trade’ project, aimed at implementing digital customs clearance for trade between Brazil and Arab countries. The project intends to facilitate trade and streamline the export of goods and commodities by creating a digital link for all certificates issued by Brazil, including health certificates, origin certificates, and invoices. These certificates will be verified and sent to the customs of other countries, including Qatar, expediting trade processes.

During the meeting, the possibility of enhancing cooperation between both chambers was discussed, including the establishment of a model for re-exports to be implemented with other countries. Additionally, the meeting explored the potential for establishing a Qatari-Brazilian Business Forum to foster collaboration and partnership in trade and investment between the two nations.

Al-Mohannadi also revealed plans to establish a link between Qatar Chamber and the Customs Authority to enhance cooperation with other customs authorities in exporting countries.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, showcasing the commitment of both parties to strengthen economic ties and explore new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation in various sectors.
