Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed Nguyen Manh Tuan, the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the UAE, in a visit aimed at fostering cooperation and exchanging knowledge about DEWA’s projects and initiatives. The meeting provided an opportunity for Al Tayer to discuss DEWA’s successful experiences in utilizing renewable and clean energy sources to drive sustainable development.
Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s commitment to realizing the visionary goals set by Dubai’s leadership. With strategic projects in place, DEWA aims to meet the growing demand for electricity and water in the Emirate. Dubai places great emphasis on sustainability and transitioning towards a green economy by increasing reliance on clean and renewable energy sources. This aligns with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to generate 100% of Dubai’s total power production capacity from clean energy by 2050.
DEWA has launched several green initiatives and programs, including the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world’s largest single-site solar park based on the Independent Power Producer model. By 2030, the park’s production capacity is expected to reach 5,000 megawatts. Al Tayer also discussed opportunities to enhance economic relations and explore joint investments between the UAE and Vietnam, particularly in the energy and water sectors.
Ambassador Tuan commended the progress made by the UAE and Dubai in the field of renewable energy and expressed Vietnam’s interest in learning from the UAE’s experience. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening business relations with Vietnamese companies based in the UAE.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s Assessment and Development Centre (A&DC) has successfully met the requirements of the international ISO certificate (10667-1:2020) for assessment service delivery. This accomplishment underscores DEWA’s ongoing investment in human resources and commitment to supporting Emiratisation. Obtaining this certificate further solidifies DEWA’s reputation for leadership and excellence, as only a few organizations worldwide have achieved this distinction. The A&DC plays a crucial role in assessing and developing human resources, aligning with DEWA’s vision of becoming a globally leading sustainable innovative corporation committed to achieving Net-Zero by 2050.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer emphasized DEWA’s dedication to empowering Emiratis by equipping them with the necessary tools and skills to thrive in an ever-changing world. DEWA stands as one of the largest government organizations in the UAE, fostering innovation, creativity, and forward-thinking among its workforce. By engaging active participation from Emiratis, DEWA aims to shape the future and contribute to sustainable development.
