Punjab becomes Pakistan’s first province to adapt Web 3.0

The government of Punjab has officially unveiled the Punjab 3.0, a new and exclusive web 3.0 platform. The portal is designed to serve web 3.0 contributors, including researchers, scientists, IT industry specialists, and even foreign companies engaged in web 3.0-related projects.

The portal will collect valuable feedback from web 3.0 contributors in Pakistan and around the world, and it will represent Pakistan’s first major step toward web 3.0 technology.

Before executing a successful launch, the Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, convened a high-powered committee that he had already established. Throughout the discussion, tech professionals and the Chief Minister of Punjab discussed the country’s adoption of Web 3.0.

Other senior government officials, including Punjab Finance Minister Mohsin Leghari and Punjab Information Technology (IT) Minister Dr. Arslan Khalid, were also present at the meeting, which took place at Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP).

In addition to government authorities, many private sector CEOs and government body members from institutions such as SBP, NBP, BOP, FBR, and SECP attended the meeting.

IT Minister Dr. Arslan Khalid stated during the conference, “Adoption of Web 3.0 in the province will increase interactivity between different users and websites, allowing them to access content from multiple sources simultaneously without having to leave the website they are browsing at any time.”

Finance Minister Mohsin Leghari stated that a successful adoption of web 3.0 in the country would result in economic growth and an increase in GDP.

Chairman of the PIBT, who was also present at the meeting, expressed optimism towards web 3.0 and blockchain technology. “Web 3.0 will allow PITB to own lounges in Metaverse in order to hold meetings and sign contracts. “Metaverse would allow citizens to interact with the government,” he stated.

The active web 3.0 portal of the Punjab government focuses on four major areas: web 3.0 governance, R&D and commercialization of web 3, talent pool development, and a policy/regulatory framework.
