ICCI meeting to set up TV channel to promote business & economy

President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, stated that the ICCI intends to build its own radio and business television channel to promote business and investment prospects in Pakistan’s economy, thereby enhancing the economy. While speaking with Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority Director General Finance Shamim Gul Durrani, who was at ICCI to discuss subjects of mutual interest, he voiced these opinions.

The Pakistani print and electronic media, according to Ahsan Bakhtawari, are filling the brains of the young generation with politics, despite the necessity to raise their awareness of commerce, business, investment, and the economy in order to develop entrepreneurs. Instead of emphasising crimes and other unpleasant news in print and electronic media, he suggested promoting Pakistan’s economic potential to attract investment and establish a positive image of the nation. In western countries, wealth producers are promoted as role models, but in Pakistani society, they are portrayed as an anti-social class, which is regrettable.

President of the ICCI stated that the Chamber is launching a radio and television station to promote as role models in society individuals who have amassed wealth through diligence and integrity. He stated that the ICCI intends to initiate work on a special programme to which the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ms. Maryam Aurangzeb, and representatives of print and electronic media would be invited to highlight the significance of wealth producers to the nation.

Director General of Finance for the Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority, Shamim Gul Durrani, stated that PEMRA is willing to work with the ICCI to build radio and business television channels. He stated that Pakistan’s affluent future is dependent on a robust economy and emphasised that the print and electronic media should play a role in showcasing commercial and investment prospects to attract investors. He praised the ICCI’s intention to construct a special technology park and stated that Pakistan has the ability to increase its IT exports by focusing on the sector’s improved growth. It would also increase young employment. Regarding the representation of ICCI in the PEMRA Council of Complaints, he stated that the Act must be amended to include such a provision, as it does not already exist. On this occasion, both institutions discussed subjects of mutual interest. At the event were also Zafar Bakhtawari, Muhammad Ejaz Abbasi, Raja Imtiaz, Khalid Chaudhry, and others.
