As a result of a shooting that resulted in the closure of the principal border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan, trade between the two nations was interrupted.

Countless trucks carrying Afghan transit trade goods and containers carrying import and export goods were stalled on both sides following the incident.

Sunday, the Pak-Afghan border at Chaman was shut down as a result of the death of one Pakistani soldier and the injury of two others during an Afghan attack across the border.

Afghan security officers allegedly opened fire on Frontier Constabulary personnel when they were on duty on the Pakistani side of the Bab-e-Dosti near Chaman, according to Levies officials.

Reportedly, at least five Afghan soldiers were killed and fourteen more were wounded in the gunfight.

A top administration official told the media that a guy opened fire on the Pakistani soldier stationed at Friendship Gate, causing the suspension of all trade, including Afghan transit trade, as a result of an attack across the international border.

In response to the suspension of commerce, Islamabad convened an emergency meeting of the Afghan troops and demanded the surrender of the militants who opened fire on Afghan security personnel.

As a result of the gunshot, no one was permitted to enter the border, therefore officials increased security precautions at the border crossing.
