Zubair Motiwala

The Federal Cabinet accepted the appointment of prominent businessman Zubair Motiwala as Chairman of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).

A circular indicates that the Federal Cabinet has accepted Zubair Motiwala’s nomination as the new TDAP Chief.

According to sources acquainted with the situation, the Federal Ministry of Commerce suggested Zubair Motiwala for the position of TDAP chairman.

They also disclosed that Zubair Motiwala will hold an honorary position. He will neither earn a salary nor any privileges associated with the prestigious employment.

Zubair Motiwala is an entrepreneur. Multiple parties have raised severe concerns about the appointment. They’ve requested the government to explain how a famous businessman can be chosen TDAP Chairman without following the procedure.

The position of TDAP Chairman had been vacant since last December. The last Chairman of TDAP was Arif Ahmed Khan, who resigned in December 2021. In January 2022, the Federal Government accepted his resignation.
