The representative at Large for Investment Zeeshaan Shah urged the American-Pakistani investors to move their money to Pakistan in order to reap large returns because Pakistan offered profitable investment prospects. At an event hosted by the Bank of Punjab in partnership with the Pakistan Chamber of Commerce in Houston, Texas, Zeeshaan Shah addressed the American diaspora of Pakistani investors.

Former foreign secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani, president of the Bank of Punjab, Zafar Masud, and prominent businesspeople and entrepreneurs from the Houston Pakistani community also attended the event. In his remarks to the gathering, Ambassador Shah provided a summary of the main investment prospects in Pakistan, with a focus on the information technology, outsourcing, travel, medical, and renewable energy industries. He praised the overseas diaspora’s contributions to Roshan Digital, which just a few months ago saw its largest daily deposits ever with more than $57 million made in a single day.

Shah described his position in more detail, stating that he had been on a family vacation when he had received the news and had since taken it upon himself to start working right away while juggling his new obligations with family time. Shah was recently nominated to represent Pakistan by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as a result of his own success as an overseas Pakistani who established a firm there, with the sole aim of attracting investment to generate jobs for Pakistan’s burgeoning youth. With more than 150 million people under the age of 30, Pakistan’s youth represent a significant opportunity, but they must be provided with a supportive environment in order to make use of their skills in a useful manner. As one of Pakistan’s most significant foreign partners, Shah mentioned the significance of Pakistan’s relationship with the United States and said that Pakistan’s overseas diaspora should serve as the nation’s ambassadors there.

He claimed that the USA is Pakistan’s largest source of foreign exchange as well as its top donor to humanitarian causes, having contributed billions of dollars to important programs promoting women’s empowerment, healthcare, sanitation, and education, as well as most recently donating 65 million doses of the life-saving Covid vaccine.

When he won the title of Most Influential Overseas Pakistani, PTI Governor of Punjab Muhammad Sarwar quoted community leader and former APPNA President Dr. Asaf Riyaz Qadeer as saying: “It gives confidence to overseas investors when they see dynamic young entrepreneurs coming forward into key positions of power.” The business community in Houston greeted Zeeshaan with open arms; he is a wonderful representative of Pakistan, and we will assist him in his efforts to encourage investment, generate jobs, and improve Pakistan.
