Swvl, a popular bus-sharing service that from Friday (June 3), it will “pause” daily travels throughout Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Faisalabad in light of the global economic downturn.

Swvl Travel (city-to-city) and Swvl Business (business-to-business) will remain fully operational, according to a notification given to app users.

The organization went on to state that it began its journey in July 2019 with the goal of “solving a major problem that all of us face and live in every day”

“Swvl claimed that having dependable, comfortable, and economical transportation is not a pipe dream. Every Pakistani, we believed, should have this right, the right to commute securely every day “According to the notification,

The statement comes as the government raises petroleum product prices in an effort to appease the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in exchange for an economic bailout.

During the height of the Covid-19 outbreak, Airlift, which began as a bus-hailing business, had also halted operations. Since then, the company’s business model has shifted to a focus on grocery delivery in Pakistani cities.
