Foodpanda, one of Pakistan’s most popular e-commerce platforms, became the first in the country to introduce e-bikes to its platform for delivery riders today. Foodpanda handed over the first set of e-bikes to its riders in an Islamabad ceremony attended by Malik Amin Aslam, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, as part of the ground-breaking initiative, which is being undertaken in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Climate Change.
Foodpanda’s commitment to environmental sustainability is reaffirmed with this project. Foodpanda has worked with Jolta Electric to grow e-bikes on its platform, and the company is looking into financing options with several banks to help its users.
“This partnership is geared towards fostering a culture of environmental wellbeing, in line with Prime Minister’s Clean Green Pakistan Initiative,” Malik Amin Aslam, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, said at the event. This will be the first of its kind practical measure, given the enormous increase in the number of delivery riders. It goes without saying that this is a collective action approach that will open the path for other players to follow suit.”
Muntaqa Peracha, Interim CEO of Foodpanda, expressed his thoughts by saying,

Foodpanda and the Ministry of Climate Change promised to collaborate in December of last year to initiate and accelerate environmental measures. Climate change is one of our greatest issues, and it necessitates quick action, according to Foodpanda. Partnerships like this, as well as other initiatives, are small but important steps toward mitigating the effects of climate change.

With the popularity of e-bikes growing, it is predicted that this will have a significant influence on the environment.
Foodpanda is Pakistan’s largest e-commerce and online meal delivery company, with over 20,000 restaurant/home chef partners around the country and millions of food deliveries per month. Thousands of home cooks and delivery riders may earn a good living as and when they want with Foodpanda’s self-employment income prospects.
