Q-Airways to Start Flight Operations in Pakistan

Q-Airways, another private airline, is poised to begin domestic operations in Pakistan soon. The airline’s application to operate in Pakistan was approved by the government on Tuesday.

Initially, the airline will fly between Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. Fawad Chaudhry, the Minister of Information, said that the new private Pakistani airline, Q-Airways, has been granted a Regular Public Transport (RPT) license by the Cabinet.

Q-Airline will be the country’s fourth private airline. The Civil Aviation Authority expects that the new airline will create jobs. The flight may run on international routes in the future, depending on its success.

Three new private airlines, Fly Jinnah, Q-Airways, and Jet Green Airlines, applied for RPT licenses last week to begin domestic operations in Pakistan, according to a CAA official.

“Permission for these airlines to begin domestic flight operations in the country is in the works,” added the spokeswoman.

“In addition to the CAA, multiple government institutions are involved in the process; this could take some time,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the national airline has suffered yet another setback, as the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has refused to ease restrictions on flights from Pakistan. There had been expectations that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will restart flights to Europe soon.
