Meezan Bank and PayFast join hands for the revolution of digital payments in Pakistan

Meezan Bank, Pakistan’s first and largest Islamic bank, has launched PayFast, the country’s first payment gateway and the sixth payment service provider (PSO/PSP) overall to get commercial permission from the State Bank. The gateway shall enable customers of the Bank to conduct online transactions by just using their bank accounts.

PayFast, in addition to bank account numbers, enables clients to make real-time payments using payment cards and mobile wallets on APPS’ merchant ecosystem, which includes eCommerce merchants, marketplaces, schools, and billers.

Mr. Adnan Ali, CEO of APPS, stated in a statement, “Our goal is to bring convenience to digital payment by enabling the acceptance of widely available payment instruments.” We are therefore honoured to welcome Meezan Bank as the tenth bank to join PayFast on our mission to disrupt Pakistan’s digital payment landscape.”

Mr. Shariq Mubeen, Head of Alternative Distribution Channels at Meezan Bank, stated, “In keeping with Meezan Bank’s strategy of collaborating with Pakistan’s leading Fintechs, we are pleased to partner with APPS.” PayFast, a payment gateway developed by APPS, will provide our clients with an innovative, secure, and user-friendly account-based payment alternative across a variety of eCommerce websites and billers in Pakistan.”
