AGP Launches Audit Management Information System to Computerize Reporting Audit Processes

With assistance from the World Bank, the Department of Auditor General of Pakistan (DAGP) deployed the Audit Management Information System in three audit offices concurrently.

According to specifics, all audit operations would be digitised, including planning, scheduling, execution, and reporting, which were previously performed manually.

Additionally, field audit teams will be connected in real time to DAGP’s audit management tiers, allowing for greater transparency and oversight of field audit activities.

Additionally, the technology would assist auditors in developing detailed risk profiles for government organisations, allowing them to focus on companies that pose a high risk.

According to specifics, interfaces, including dashboards, would be available to members of the Public Accounts Committee and the Secretariat, enabling the PAC to access published audit results, unload directives, and monitor compliance status in real time.

The DAGP will be well-positioned to implement the audit quality management framework that was developed recently to assure the quality of audit work at each stage of the audit cycle.

To ensure the replication and sustainability of AMIS in DAGP, a separate project has been launched that will enable the rollout of AMIS across the country’s audit offices and focus on developing auditors’ skills in newly emerging areas such as energy sector audits, information system audits, and environmental audits.

Auditors will be encouraged to obtain internationally recognised certifications and qualifications in order to strengthen their capacity for conducting such audits.

Additionally, the department is negotiating an MOU with CIPFA/PIPFA to assist its employees in enhancing their qualifications and achieving full chartered accountant status in the public sector.

This step would be critical in boosting their competence and professionalism in the performance of their duties.
