Pakistani grocery delivery platform, GrocerApp, raises US $5.2 million from global investors

GrocerApp, Pakistan’s top online grocery delivery platform, has raised a Series-A investment of US$5.2 million from major institutional and angel investors.

Hayaat Global led the deal, which included participation from Millville Opportunities Fund New York, Wamda Capital of MENA, Jabbar Internet Group & Nama Ventures of China, and Pakistan-based LeanBricks and Walled City Co.

GrocerApp, founded in 2016 by Ahmad Saeed, Hassaan Sadiq, and Rai Bilal, is digitising Pakistani grocery purchasing with an emphasis on the customer experience. Prior to GrocerApp, the founders were instrumental in growing PakWheels into one of the earliest Pakistani IT ecosystem powerhouses.

GrocerApp secured the US$5.2 million Series-A funding as a result of its quick development; only seven months after securing US$1 million in seed capital from major institutional and angel investors, GrocerApp scaled phenomenally in Lahore and moved fast to Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Between the two rounds, GrocerApp’s overall order volume and revenue climbed by 300 percent, surpassing the US$15 million milestone on an annually basis.

GrocerApp CEO Ahmad Saeed commented on the investment, saying, “We owe our success to the tireless efforts of our brilliant team, which enabled us to rapidly scale in such a short period of time while maintaining sustainable and healthy unit economics.” We are happy to have experienced investors as partners who contribute not only finance but also operational and domain skills to help us build GrocerApp into Pakistan’s best e-commerce platform. We want to use the proceeds from the new funding round to rapidly expand our operations to critical cities throughout Pakistan, as well as to pursue new business opportunities in the online grocery retail segment.”

GrocerApp’s director, Asif Keshodia, stated, “We’ve built a streamlined infrastructure for receiving orders, initiating fulfilment, and completing delivery.” GrocerApp has tripled in size in only a few months – a monument to our daily gratification of thousands of customers. We believe it has the potential to become Pakistan’s largest retailer, which is why we are devoted to furthering our innovations.”

GrocerApp is a low-cost online supermarket that enables you to order products from a variety of categories, including groceries, veggies, beauty & wellness, household care, infant care, pet care, and meats & seafood, and have them delivered to your door. It has made Internet purchasing more accessible and convenient than ever before. Order online all your favourite products from the top online supermarket in Pakistan for grocery home delivery with the greatest experience assured.
