Nasir Ali Khan, the Tourism Minister, made the announcement during a discussion with media representatives about the region’s growth.
The SCO, according to sources, introduced the world’s fastest internet service by erecting a mobile phone tower at the base of K2, the world’s second highest peak.
The construction of the tower would increase the region’s access to internet services. This includes 4G-enabled internet networks. Gilgit-government Baltistan’s has provided special assistance to the SCO in constructing the tower that will ensure communication at the K2 base camp. It will contribute to the growth of adventure tourism.
Previously, travellers and mountaineers had to connect with base camp through satellite phones. Climbers had difficulty interacting with one another during the winter due to the harsh weather conditions.
