According to a government statement, 4G broadband services will be available in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on March 23.
The government has agreed to open up “digital highways” in GB and AJK, according to sources in the ministry of information technology, and the auction proceeds for new spectrum will be finalised by the middle of May.
“The 4G licence auction will take place before June 30, and it will provide GB and AJK with not only high-speed internet but also increased revenue for their governments,” sources said.
They reported that Prime Minister Imran Khan was briefed recently by the IT ministry and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), which was also attended by GB Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid and senior officials from the AJK government and the GB secretariat.
