Airlink’s smartphone production facility inaugurated

On Saturday, Muhammad Hammad Azhar, the Federal Minister of Industries and Development, inaugurated a state-of-the-art smartphone production facility built by Airlink in Lahore. Many well-known industry figures, including Almas Hyder, Chairman of the EDB, and other government officials, attended the gathering.

For the past ten years, Airlink has been in the mobile distribution market, partnering with top brands such as Samsung, iPhone, Huawei, Xiaomi, Alcatel, TCL, Tecno, and iTel. The company has been a strong supporter of investment in Pakistan, and has built a factory with a production capacity of six million units per year with 100% owned equity.

This new venture is a cutting-edge smartphone manufacturing facility, the country’s most advanced cell phone manufacturing facility, with a vision of contract manufacturing that meets both international quality and production requirements. With all regulatory approvals, the company has already signed contracts with TECNO, itel, and TCL.

Muzzaffar Hayat Piracha, CEO of Airlink Communication Ltd, spoke at the inauguration of the production plant and expressed his gratitude. He said, “I feel honoured that Airlink was able to build this state-of-the-art facility in these unprecedented times, which resonates with the Prime Minister’s vision to promote “Made in Pakistan” products that will not only generate employment opportunities for Pakistanis but also reduce import bills, reducing the burden on foreign exchange reserves.”

The government and its governing authorities will use this initiative to concentrate on job creation, import substitution, and technology transfer. It will also connect Pakistan to the global supply chain, opening up opportunities for export.

In his remarks, Hammad Azher congratulated the Airlink team on their efforts and confirmed that the ministry of industries and production was committed to bringing in investment-friendly policies while ensuring ease of doing business in the country, in line with the PM’s vision.
