Ministry of IT Approves Rs.8 Billion Budget for 9 Broadband and Optical Fiber Projects

The federal ministry of information technology has been given approval to spend Rs8 billion across the country on nine broadband and optical fibre projects that will serve 7.5 million new internet users.

The Universal Service Fund’s board of directors met to discuss nine of these proposals, authorising funds to extend IT services in areas where there is no internet access.

Broadband networks will receive Rs2.6 billion in support, with another Rs4.98 billion set aside for optical fibre.

These projects would benefit 7.5 million citizens from various districts across all provinces, covering a total area of 37,790 square kilometres, according to the meeting.

These ventures, according to Aminul Haque, the federal minister of information technology, would ensure internet connectivity for Babusar Peak, Saiful Malook Lake, and Kumrat Valley.
