Ali Salman Siddique, the chairperson of the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA), has announced that TEVTA will initiate a virtual kitchen programme for graduates of culinary and food courses. 5000 students will obtain jobs as a result of this initiative, as they will be able to earn money via the Foodpanda mobile app.

He was speaking at the TEVTA Secretariat’s MoU signing ceremony on Tuesday. Noman Sikandar, CEO of Foodpanda, and Akhtar Abbas Bharwana, COO of TEVTA, were also in attendance.

TEVTA’s Chairperson went on to state that the company is going ahead with its new vision of offering demand-driven courses as well as economic opportunities. TEVTA, he explained, is giving its students the opportunity to work for Foodpanda through this initiative. Our students would be able to earn money by cooking food at home through Foodpanda if they participate in this programme, he said.

Ali Salman Siddique went on to say that this programme would help the province’s entrepreneurship culture develop. This move is part of Digital TEVTA because students will be able to take orders for food preparation while using the mobile app Foodpanda, he said, adding that students who are unable to find work or start their own business will benefit from this initiative.

Noman Sikandar, the CEO of Foodpanda, claimed that the company employs 4000 home chefs who produce Rs 30 million in revenue. Meeting with TEVTA Chairperson Ali Salman, he said, is a breath of fresh air since TEVTA conducts training in collaboration with relevant industry and has created an ecosystem for all stakeholders.
