UCBZ to help boost Pak products to China

A ‘Pakistan National Pavilion’ will be set up in Urumqi Comprehensive Bonded Zone (UCBZ) and Urumqi Integrated Pilot Zone to display Pakistani products in an initiative to encourage Pakistani exports to China, reporter CEN on Thursday.

UNI International Business Chairman Ma Xiaoyan said that Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is the central location of the Belt and Road Initiative, where goods manufactured in Pakistan can draw Chinese and international consumers. The pavilion’s opening ceremony is scheduled to be held in April this year.

“For the past 15 years, we have been working in Pakistan to provide local value-added services for consulting and trading with Chinese and local Pakistani companies in the agricultural, power transmission, power generation, industrial, mining and mineral projects and CPEC infrastructure projects sectors,” he said.

He further claimed that the implementation of the 2nd phase of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (CPFTA) allowed zero-duty Pakistani products to enter the Chinese market, and that the pavilion facility would provide an opportunity for Pakistani traders to market their products here.

He claimed that Pakistan has enormous opportunities for investment in agriculture and food-related processing to add value, then to export finished products to China under the FTA and Gulf countries by gaining foreign exchange and creating job opportunities in Pakistan.
