A 5-day boot camp for women entrepreneurs was conducted by the National Incubation Center, located in Islamabad, to equip them with the requisite skills and techniques to increase investment.

The event was held from 15 to 19 February 2021 and was aimed at inspiring women entrepreneurs with the art of fundraising so that they can gain access to better investment opportunities.

Just 1 in 3 small, medium and large companies globally are operated by women. Women’s entrepreneurship is at a nascent stage, especially in Pakistan, with only 1% of women engaged in entrepreneurial activities, compared to 21% of men.

2020 was a successful year for Pakistani start-ups, with 50 start-ups making substantial investments, but only three of them were predominantly female-led.

20 female entrepreneurs running companies in sports, agriculture, e-commerce, virtual reality, education and more participated in the 5-day bootcamp.

The training was conducted as part of the World Bank Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-fi) Program in Pakistan and was focused on content designed by Invest2Innovate and Village Money.

In order to provide sessions in their areas of expertise, more than 10 trainers were engaged. The group appreciated engaging sessions on the Dos and Don’ts of raising capital with both trainers.
