One of Pakistan’s leading cement producers, Maple Leaf Cement Factory Limited, is preparing to increase its capacity in anticipation of a boom in construction activity and an increase in demand for construction materials.

The company is considering improving its production capacity by 7,000 tonnes a day, as per Bloomberg, and the plan is in the final stages.

Maple Leaf Cement Factory Limited was set up as a limited public company in 1960. With Kohinoor Textile Mills Limited as its holding company, it is part of the Kohinoor Maple Leaf Group. The business seeks to take advantage of the recent construction package announced by the government, which seeks to increase industrial activity and help the economy recover during Covid-19.

Just days ago, Kohat Cement Company Limited (KOHC) declared that a multi-billion rupee cement production plant in Punjab will be set up by a number of cement manufacturers to increase their cement production.

The company’s Board of Directors has approved the establishment of the 7000-10000 TPD Cement Manufacturing Plant, as per the company announcement.

In addition, Fauji Cement Company Limited (FCCL) also announced that it had planned to invest in additional capacity for cement.

The company has approved the establishment of a 2.05 million tonne annual Greenfield Cement Manufacturing Plant in Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab.

It is important to report that during 1QFY21 year on year, Maple Leaf Cement saw a 5 percent rise in sales revenue. As a result of rising demand, this was a direct result of the rise in sales prices; the latter, in turn, was attributed to growth in the construction sector.
