Agricultural experts from the province say the sector needs a dedicated online portal to help farmers cross the gap.
Via the proposed web platform, farmers should have access to modern standards, experts and researchers.
“There is enormous untapped potential in the agricultural sector in Pakistan, and a dedicated portal will help farmers improve their yields,” said one expert.
The proposed platform would not only serve as an important source of information for the farming community, but will also help the country address potential food security challenges.
It was not enough when asked about the quality of information available to farmers, one Lahore-based farmer said. Rana Mubashir Hassan, who owns a farm in Lahore, said, “The data that the provincial department shares is generally one-sided and does not help.”
