A written petition seeking modifications to the Automotive Development Policy (ADP) 2016-2021 has been filed by the Lahore High Court (LHC) to make airbags mandatory in each and every car.
The petitioner made separate federal government departments and major vehicle brands as respondents in the case.
He argued in court that the use of airbags in vehicles will avoid fatal accidents, stressing that it takes time for the restraint system to protect individuals.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the Engineering Development Board (EDB) to ensure compulsory airbag installation in locally manufactured vehicles.
This was verified by the Secretary of the Committee for the Development of the Auto Industry (AIDC) at the last meeting of the Committee for the Development of the Auto Industry (AIDC), held by the Investment Board (BOI).
It was decided that, for inclusion in SRO 656, 16 shortlisted regulations would be submitted to the government.
